Lesson # 1

Title of lesson: Shakespeare and Globe Theatre Scavenger Hunt

Description of lesson:
Before introducing the students to Romeo and Juliet, it is important for them to be familiar with Shakespeare, the Elizabethan era, and the Globe Theatre. The scavenger hunt was created to help them research each of these things using the links I put within the scavenger hunt.

Assignment:

Students will work in groups to answer the specified questions in the scavenger hunt.

Resources/materials needed:

Computer with internet

Technology reflection:

This lesson is completely based on technology. If technology is unavailable a new lesson would have to be constructed. However, I think this lesson is a good way for students to meet the research standards set by the state and will help students understand the important basics before reading, studying, and analyzing Romeo and Juliet.

Evaluation:
(as a classroom teacher, this will be where you jot your notes on what went right, what needs to be changed, etc.)

I think I will use these scavenger hunts often while teaching certain lessons. Since research is one of the Language Arts and an important standard for students to master, this lesson is an important one to keep in my lesson plan arsenal. I like it especially because it will be easy to change as the lesson may change. Extra questions can be added quickly if some new topics may arise. This lesson is also good for group work, which also hits the communication state standards set forth for the Language Arts curriculum. This lesson would also be followed by a whole class discussion, discussing the results they found from their group research.
